    Philosophy:
    Reflect Curiosity and Wonder !

All children can learn--in their own way and in their own time.
All children are smart--In their own way according to their own talents and backgrounds.

To meet the needs of all children, classrooms must provide positive opportunities for success in a rigorous, thoughtful, diverse, and authentic environment.

How can we provide Positive Opportunities?
--Be aware of strengths, talents, problem-solving preferences
--Structure activities, goals, assessments that reflect these diversities
--Provide support to succeed in all areas--strengths and challenges

Focus: Understanding is the key!

To develop understanding, lessons include:

Rigor: --to make sense of challenging texts and ideas

Thought: --to use powerful learning disciplines

Diversity: --to understand themselves and others

Authenticity: --to apply what is learned to real world

Teacher & Learner

Reflect Curiosity and Wonder

I believe in a classroom that centers around student inquiry and discussion. My own life centers around wonder and curiosity, sharing and discussing with family, friends, and colleagues what my experience or research have presented. I constantly reflect on my experience and studies to grow intellectually. I strive to share this with my students and family.

Although my new assignment in a "mini-high school" at the elementary level precludes much that I believe in due to lack of time and to numbers of students, I strive to continue to teach in a way that honors each student and his/her talents.

Enjoy, Reflect, Share
